{"id":4452,"date":"2017-07-17T15:27:51","date_gmt":"2017-07-17T06:27:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gi-core.oia.hokudai.ac.jp\/gsb\/?p=4452"},"modified":"2017-07-17T15:27:51","modified_gmt":"2017-07-17T06:27:51","slug":"summer_lectures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/c-mng.cwh.hokudai.ac.jp\/gi-core.oia\/gsb\/events\/summer_lectures.html","title":{"rendered":"\u3010Lectures\u3011HSI course, distinguished lecture, and special lectures in summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From mid July to early August, there will be two lecture series: 1) <em>Lectures on Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning<\/em>, and 2) <em>Introduction to Big Data and Cybersecurity for Graduate Students<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gi-core.oia.hokudai.ac.jp\/gsb\/index.php\/smnrs-lctrs\/2017-ss\/\"><em>Lectures on Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning<\/em><\/a> will be offered Monday and Wednesday from Jul. 19 to Aug. 2. They includes three lectures given by visiting researchers from University of Massachusetts Amherst. While given in a regular graduate course, any graduate students and faculty members are welcome to attend these lectures. Registration is not required.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gi-core.oia.hokudai.ac.jp\/gsb\/index.php\/smnrs-lctrs\/2017-hsi\/\"><em>Introduction to Big Data and Cybersecurity for Graduate Students<\/em><\/a> is a graduate course offered in Hokkaido Summer Institute (HSI). The course &#8211; run from Jul. 31 to Aug. 4 &#8211; consists of eight lectures taught by professors from: Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Hokkaido University; Information Initiative Center, Hokkaido University, and University of Massachusetts Amherst.<\/p>\n<p>Because the themes of the two lecture series are closely related, interested graduate students are encouraged to attend both of them.<\/p>\n<p>GSB will support these lectures and a distinguished lecture.
