From mid July to early August, there will be two lecture series: 1) Lectures on Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning<\/em>, and 2) Introduction to Big Data and Cybersecurity for Graduate Students<\/em>.<\/p>\n Lectures on Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning<\/em><\/a> will be offered Monday and Wednesday from Jul. 19 to Aug. 2. They includes three lectures given by visiting researchers from University of Massachusetts Amherst. While given in a regular graduate course, any graduate students and faculty members are welcome to attend these lectures. Registration is not required.<\/p>\n Introduction to Big Data and Cybersecurity for Graduate Students<\/em><\/a> is a graduate course offered in Hokkaido Summer Institute (HSI). The course – run from Jul. 31 to Aug. 4 – consists of eight lectures taught by professors from: Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Hokkaido University; Information Initiative Center, Hokkaido University, and University of Massachusetts Amherst.<\/p>\n Because the themes of the two lecture series are closely related, interested graduate students are encouraged to attend both of them.<\/p>\n GSB will support these lectures and a distinguished lecture.
