【Report】Hokkaido University-ImPACT Joint Symposium on Advanced Soft Matter

Hokkaido University-ImPACT Joint Symposium “International Symposium on Advanced Soft Matter: From Single Molecule to Tough Polymers” was held on August 7th and 8th, 2017 at Hokkaido University. This symposium was jointly organized by GSS and ImPACT’s Ito Program, a research and development program by JST and the Cabinet Office, Government of Japan. The Joint Symposium was realized on the occasion of the “International Soft Matter Summer School in Hokkaido” in which many distinguished researchers, young investigators, and graduate students of soft matter studies from all over the world congregate in Hokkaido.
The symposium started with opening remarks by Professor Gong, the Director of GSS extending a warm welcome. In the two-day program, 19 invited lectures on the advanced soft matter by the summer school lecturers and Ito Program academic members were delivered, followed by a fruitful Q&A session. Also, 82 posters were presented by young researchers and graduate students. The participants enjoyed the presentations and productive discussion on recent findings of soft matter and tough polymer.
A total of 165 people participated in this symposium, providing valuable research exchange opportunities for the attendees on the cutting-edge technologies and knowledge.
We would like to appreciate everyone who made this event possible and successful!
