Dr. Ishihara questioned herself how the Ainu people were looking at the 150th year of the naming of Hokkaido. More than 30 Ainu people told her their thoughts on the past, the present and the future for the Ainu and the Wajin to share the stories of the sadness, effort and hope of this land, not to deny development of Hokkaido and she put all their stories together in this book.
