Awarded the JSPS Fund for the Promotion of Joint International Research (International Leading Research)
このたび、2025年度科学研究費助成事業「国際共同研究加速基金（国際先導研究）」に、GSI長の加藤博文教授の研究課題が採択されました。54件の応募から５件が採択され、人文社会系の審査区分では唯一の採択です。
研究実施期間は、2025年度から2031年度までの7年間となります。
We are pleased to announce that a research project led by Professor Hirofumi Kato, Director of GSI, has been newly selected for funding under the FY2025 Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI): Fund for the Promotion of Joint International Research (International Leading Research).
The research period will span seven years, from FY2025 to FY2031.

国際共同研究加速基金（国際先導研究）とは
国際共同研究加速基金（国際先導研究）は、優れた国際共同研究に対して基金による柔軟性の高い大規模・長期間の支援を実施することによる、独創的、先駆的な研究の格段の発展を目的とするものです。 我が国の優秀な研究者が率いる研究グループが、国際的なネットワークの中で中核的な役割を担うことにより、国際的に高い学術的価値のある研究成果の創出のみならず、当該学術分野全体の更なる国際化、研究水準の高度化を目指します。 さらに、ポストドクターや大学院生が参画することにより、将来、国際的な研究コミュニティの中核を担う研究者の育成にも資するとともに、国際共同研究の基盤の中長期的な維持・発展につながることを期待するものです。

About the Fund for the Promotion of Joint International Research (International Leading Research)
The Fund for the Promotion of Joint International Research (International Leading Research) aims to achieve significant advances in original and pioneering research by providing large-scale, long-term, and highly flexible funding support to outstanding international collaborative research projects. Through this program, research groups led by leading researchers in Japan are expected to play a central role within international research networks. The initiative seeks not only to generate research outcomes of high academic value on a global scale, but also to further internationalize the relevant academic fields and enhance overall research standards. In addition, by encouraging the participation of postdoctoral researchers and graduate students, the program contributes to the development of future researchers who will play key roles in the international research community, while also supporting the medium- to long-term sustainability and growth of the foundations for international collaborative research.
