On January 19th the FY2025 seminar “Shaping Graduate Education Through International Collaborative Research: Insights From 3 Pilot GI-CoRE Cooperating Hubs as Models for Internationalization ” was held by GI-CoRE at the Hokkaido University Conference Hall. GI-CoRE is an initiative that was established with the aim of promoting collaborative research between world-leading research units and Hokkaido University faculty members. Research discoveries made through these partnerships are then used to further other initiatives such as the founding of new international graduate schools. The seminar focused on sharing expertise regarding research and education internationalization and system development based on accumulated insights from the program over the past decade.
The event began with opening remarks from President Kiyohiro Houkin, Director of GI-CoRE, and an overview of GI-CoRE presented by Executive Vice President Atsushi Yokota, Deputy Director of GI-CoRE. Then three GI-CoRE cooperating hubs and their related graduate schools introduced model cases demonstrating how international collaborative research has led to the establishment of international graduate schools. Presentations were delivered by Dean Shinya Tanaka of the Faculty of Medicine and Dean Takayuki Hashimoto of the Graduate School of Biomedical Science and Engineering (Global Center for Biomedical Science and Engineering); Director Ayato Takada of the International Institute for Zoonosis Control and Dean Satoru Konnai of the Graduate School of Infectious Diseases (International Institute for Zoonosis Control); and Dean Teruo Sone of the Graduate School of Global Food Resources (Global Center for Food, Land and Water Resources). Each speaker discussed the creative approaches and challenges faced by their respective departments in developing international graduate programs based on findings from their international collaborative research.
The seminar concluded with 93 participants engaging in a lively question-and-answer session.
GI-CoRE plans to hold a similar seminar again next fiscal year.
国際連携研究教育局（GI-CoRE）が令和7年度学内共有セミナーを開催
2026年1月19日（月）、学術交流会館において、国際連携研究教育局（GI-CoRE）が「国際共同研究から大学院教育への発展：国際化の実装モデル 先行3拠点の知見共有」と題して令和7年度学内共有セミナーを開催しました。
GI-CoREは、世界トップレベルの研究ユニット誘致を通じて本学教員との共同研究を推進し、その成果を新たな国際大学院の設置などへ発展させることを目的として設置され、10年が経過しました。本セミナーは、この間に蓄積された研究教育の国際化や体制整備に関するノウハウ・知見を学内に共有する目的で開催されたものです。
初めに寳金清博総長（GI-CoRE局長）による挨拶があり、次いで横田篤理事・副学長（GI-CoRE副局長）がGI-CoREの概要説明を行いました。
その後、国際連携研究から国際大学院化までのモデルケースとして、GI-CoRE協力拠点から3拠点と関係学院による発表がありました。医学研究院医理工学グローバルセンターからは田中伸哉医学研究院長と橋本孝之医理工学院長、人獣共通感染症国際共同研究所国際協働ユニットからは髙田礼人人獣共通感染症国際共同研究所長と今内覚国際感染症学院長、農学研究院食水土資源グローバルセンターからは曾根輝雄国際食資源学院長がそれぞれ登壇され、国際共同研究の成果を国際大学院の設置に繋げる過程で、関係部局が取り組んできた工夫や苦労について語られました。
その後の質疑応答においても活発な意見交換が行われ、参加者93名のもと、盛会のうちに終了しました。
なおGI-CoREでは、次年度も同様のセミナーを開催する予定です。
