GI-CoREでは、2016年4月1日に新たにソフトマター、ビッグデータ・サイバーセキュリティ、北極域研究の3つのグローバルステーションを開設しました。
ソフトマターグローバルステーション（GSS）は、高齢化、環境汚染、資源不足など 社会が直面している課題解決に資するソフトマター分野の躍進的発展のため、平成28年4月に開設されました。国際的な研究拠点 として、パリ市立工業物理化学高等専門大学（ESPCI）、ノースカロライナ大学などと協働 し、世界を先導するソフトマター基礎科学研究、革新的ソフトマテリアル創製および医療応用を展開するとともに、分野横断的な理工学系人材を育成するソフトマター専攻（仮称）を設置予定です。
ビッグデータ・サイバーセキュリティグローバルステーション（GSB）は、ビッグデータ、情報ネットワーク、サイバーセキュリティの異分野融合研究拠点として、マサチューセッツ大学アマースト校（UMass Amherst）との国際連携研究のもと開設されました。情報化社会で国際的に活躍できるようなビッグデータとサイバーセキュリティに関するITトップガン人材を育成するため、サイバー情報学専攻（仮称）を設置予定です。
北極域研究グローバルステーション（GSA）は、アラスカ大学、北東連邦大学、オスロ大学、リーズ大学といった北極に関する研究で実績のある大学との密接な関係を基に、異分野連携による学際的北極域フィールド研究拠点として開設されました。海洋環境、陸域環境、北極海航路の研究ユニットで激変する北極の気候変動とその社会への影響を解明すると共に、変化する環境への適応策の提案や持続可能な産業の創出へと寄与し、教育に役立てます。

GI-CoRE is pleased to announce the establishment of the following 3 Global Stations in April 2016: GSs for Soft Matter, Big Data and Cybersecurity and Arctic Research.
Global Station for Soft Matter (GSS) was established in April 2016 to further the progressive development of soft matter, which contributes to solve social problems such as aging, environmental pollution and lack of resources. Serving as an international research hub, in collaboration with ESPCI ParisTech and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and so forth, GSS aims to expand the world-leading fundamental scientific research of soft matter, innovative soft materials discovery and its medical applications, and also to establish the Division of Soft Matter (TBD) to produce multidisciplinary graduates of science and engineering. GSS is expected to provide one of the most innovative platforms of soft matter research and education in the world.
Global Station for Big Data and Cybersecurity (GSB) was launched as an interdisciplinary research hub to cover big data, information network, and cybersecurity promoting international collaborative research with the University Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst). This global station will also be a base to establish a new graduate-level course, Division of Cyber Informatics (TBD), and foster ‘IT top-gun’ human resources who can actively and globally work on information-oriented society.
Global Station for Arctic Research (GSA) was launched as a research hub to promote interdisciplinary Arctic research and expand international research network, based on close connections with University of Alaska, North-Eastern Federal University, University of Oslo and University of Leeds. GSA will utilise the research outcomes on climate and environmental change in the Arctic to create sustainable industries and foster human resources.
